Once a S A Railways bus service maintenance shed, the property was developed into a restaurant site in 1997. Serving the local community, the bus service travelled daily between Clarens and Bethlehem. The neighbouring Bibliophile bookstore was originally the bus station. The property was sold in 1999,
changed into a fine dining establishment and renamed Clementines.
In November 2004, Clementines received a surprise visit from Brad Pitt and his retinue who enchanted staff and diners alike.
After 16 years in Johannesburg's corporate world, Shelley Tresidder opted
fora better quality of life in Clarens. In August 2010 she relocated to Clarens, bought Clementines and within the first week her positive energy was
already being felt in the old building.
These many milestones add to the ambience and charm of this quaint and popular restaurant in 'The Jewel of the Free State".
